BECOMING A CFA MEMBER
Make a contribution to your community and you will make new friends, learn new skills, and be a part of Victoria's largest volunteer team!
Apart from fire fighters, many people in our community can offer a wide variety of skills and interests and therefore you may be able to offer your time as a firefighter or non-operational support member.
To become volunteer CFA fire fighter, you are required to undertake a minimum skills basic fire fighting course designed to give you a working knowledge of fire fighting skills. This course is run by experienced CFA members and takes approximately 3 months before qualifying to be active on the fire ground.
New member recruit courses are run 1 or 2 times per year. The course is typically run 1 night per week with additional practical training on weekends.
We're looking for people to help with:
- Firefighting
- Brigade admin
- Community education
- Community safety programs
- Fundraising
- Training co-ordination
- Equipment maintenance
- Media & public relations
