Gisborne brigade formed part of strike team 0222 to respond to a call for more appliances at a spreading grass fire in Greenhill, just past Kyneton, on Sunday, 26th of January 2014 at 13:42. Gisborne was a late entry into the strike team, as the allocated Woodend tanker had already responded directly to the fire. The fire ended up consuming over 200 hectares of grass lands, with damage to fences and out buildings yet to be fully counted. No houses were lost, and no injuries have been listed. Over 20 appliances from all over region 2 attended, with local appliances remaining on the ground overnight to monitor for any flareups. With the increasing temperatures over the next few weeks, everyone is urged to consider their fire plan, and to think about their response to fire in their neighborhood.
