When we need help, chances are it will be a volunteer that will come to your help.
This time, the GREAT Association (Gisborne Region Events Activities and Tourism) has come to the aid of volunteer fire fighters at Gisborne CFA with a donation of $2000.
Gisborne Captain Tony Wade says the Brigade is fundraising for new reliable tools to assist in fire fighting, and this donation will help purchase additional fire fighting hoses, torches for each crew member, and computer equipment.
“The GREAT organisation has long been a very generous supporter of the Gisborne Fire Brigade and many other community organisations and we are extremely fortunate for the work GREAT does”.
Gisborne CFA is a 100% volunteer emergency service with a strong membership of dedicated local fire fighters who willingly give their time to support the local community.
Emergency calls can come at any time- night or day, plus many hours are spent training to meet the demands of fire fighting.
CFA is funded by the state government, however additional vehicles and equipment is funded through local fundraising.
“We admire the contribution that GREAT makes in our community and want to thank them for the continued support they give us”.
Funds raised by the GREAT Association and the Gisborne Olde Time market are used to improve facilities in Gisborne (paths, historical plaques, information bay, barbeque rotunda, seating, picnic tables etc) and are also distributed to Gisborne based community groups to enable them to continue their work.
