An increase in the number of collisions involving kangaroos on our roads is causing concern for emergency services.

A driver had a lucky escape after his car was engulfed in flames following a collision with a kangaroo on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at 4:45am on the Calder Freeway just north of Station Road New Gisborne. The driver escaped without injury.
